Falcon protects fruit farm.

On wings of falcons, farmers protect their fruit crops

In the article "On wings of falcons, farmers protect their fruit crops," it talks about how falcons will protect people's fruit farms from other birds trying to eat them.

In the article, it says, "'It's amazing. Suddenly all the other birds go quiet because they know they could be eaten, 'said Flamm. Since hiring Alaverdian, he only loses about 3 percent of his crops to birds." This shows that the falcons scare away all the other birds because the other birds are scared to be eaten. Some birds can also spread some of their diseases on the farmer's crops. It also says that some birds were getting smarter than the scarecrow (meaning they are not scared of it) so people started using falcons to scare away the birds.

It is important because we get a lot of our food from farms and since some birds have diseases they could contaminate our food. The falcons scare away the birds so that they do not do that.

Famous Accidental Foods

The Origins of Famous Food

close up of chocolate chip cookies fresh out of ovenIn the article, The Origins of Famous Foods by Mary Morton Cowan, it describes how many famous foods came from accidental inspiration. Such examples include chocolate chip cookies, lifesavers, tea bags, Coca-Cola, and popsicles. All of these foods were either made by accident or the idea came to the creator accidentally. Many of these foods also changed ownership many times. I think this article is important because it shows that many of the most well known foods happened by mistake and weren’t necessarily planned. For example, the only reason a popsicle exists like we know it today is because some kid accidentally left some juice and a stick outside overnight.
